Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes what information YourSkillHub collects when you use the site, why we collect it, and who else (if anyone) sees it. It describes the platform as it actually operates today — it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer about your specific privacy-law obligations.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information, all tied to your own account:

• Account information — your name, email address, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), and role (Student, Instructor, or Admin).
• Profile information — an optional bio, professional title, areas of expertise, and profile picture, if you choose to add them.
• Course activity and progress — which curriculum items you've completed, your quiz/assessment attempts and scores, and remediation status for courses you're enrolled in.
• Enrollment information — which courses you're enrolled in and when you enrolled.
• Instructor application information — if you apply to teach: your professional title, country, occupation, years of experience, areas of expertise, teaching experience, education, certifications, LinkedIn/portfolio links, proposed course topics, a qualification statement, and an uploaded CV file.
• Course and instructor-created content — courses, curriculum, quiz questions, and webinar details that instructors create and publish.
• Messages and Q&A — questions students ask and the replies instructors post on a course's Q&A section.
• Webinar information — scheduled sessions you host or are enrolled to attend, and reminder delivery status.
• Certificates — if you earn one: your name, the course, the issuing instructor, the issue date, and a unique certificate ID, all shown on a public verification page reachable only via its exact link/QR code.
• Payment and manual-payment records — for a paid course purchase: the amount, a payment reference you provide, an optional uploaded payment receipt, and its confirmation/rejection status and reviewing admin. We do not collect or store your card or bank account numbers — WishMoney transfers happen outside the platform, between you and your bank/mobile-money provider.
• Uploaded files — CVs, payment receipts, assignment submissions, and profile pictures, stored in object storage (see "Third-party services" below) and accessible only to you and, where relevant to reviewing your submission, the responsible instructor or admin.
• Technical and security logs — server-side operational logs used to diagnose problems and investigate abuse. These never include your password, session token, or full request contents — only identifiers (such as a user, course, or payment id) useful for tracing an issue.
• Audit logs — sensitive administrative actions (approving a course, confirming a payment, suspending an account, changing a role) are recorded internally with the acting admin, the action, and when it happened, for accountability. This log is visible only to admins.

How we use this information

We use the information above to:

• Operate your account, enrollments, and course access.
• Verify and process manual course-purchase requests.
• Deliver email you've asked for or that keeps your account secure — verification, password reset, payment status, Q&A replies, webinar reminders, and certificate notices.
• Review instructor applications and course submissions.
• Investigate misuse, enforce our Terms, and keep the platform secure.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not currently use any analytics, advertising, or behavioral-tracking service on YourSkillHub.

Email delivery

Transactional email (account verification, password reset, payment status, Q&A replies, webinar reminders, certificate notices) is sent through Resend, our email delivery provider. Resend processes your email address and the message content solely to deliver that email on our behalf.

Video hosting

Course trailer and lesson video is hosted and streamed through Bunny Stream. When you watch a video, your browser loads it directly from Bunny's infrastructure using a signed, time-limited playback link generated by YourSkillHub — Bunny does not receive your YourSkillHub account details, only what's inherent to serving the video request itself (such as your IP address, the same as any video CDN).

File storage

Uploaded files (CVs, payment receipts, assignment submissions, profile pictures) are stored with an S3-compatible object storage provider. Access to a stored file is only ever granted through a short-lived signed link generated after YourSkillHub verifies you are authorized to see that specific file — the storage provider does not make files public on its own.

Who can see your information

• Your name and public profile information may be visible to other users where relevant — e.g., an instructor's name and bio on their course page.
• A course instructor can see the progress, quiz attempts, and Q&A questions of students enrolled in their own course — never another instructor's course.
• Admins can see account, payment, and instructor-application information as needed to review and moderate the platform.
• The service providers named above (Resend, Bunny Stream, our storage provider) process the specific data described in each section, solely to provide that service to us.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Data retention

We keep your account and related records for as long as your account exists, since course access is designed to last for the lifetime of your enrollment. If you'd like your account information reviewed, corrected, or deleted, contact us using the details on the site.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform changes. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
